Mohamed Choukri
Mohamed Choukri was born in Morocco in 1935. He was one of North Africa's most controversial and widely read authors. After deciding to learn to read and write classical Arabic at the age of twenty, he penned numerous works, including For Bread Alone (Telegram, 2006). He went on to become a teacher and writer, and was Chair of Arabic Literature at Ibn Batutu College in Tangier.
