Tchingiz Aïtmatov

Tchingiz Aitmatov

Tchingiz Aïtmatov (1928-2008) was born in Kyrgyzstan. His work appeared in over one hundred languages, and received numerous awards, including the Lenin Prize. He was the Kyrgyz ambassador to the European Union, NATO, UNESCO and the Benelux countries.

Tchingiz Aïtmatov passed away in June 2008. You can read his Obituary from The Guardian here.
