Telegram Books: Telegram Everywhere: Now With Added RSS
We're excited about the potential of this site to bring you the words that move us and keep us moving. As a result we've just started experimentally syndicating all the content you can see here, so we hope all goes well and that you'll tell us if anything unexpected happens.
Here's the latest widget: the little orange button at the bottom of the page is a link to the Telegram RSS 2.0 web feed. If you don't know what that means (and we're happy to spread the good word) there's a helpful article in plain English on the BBC website which explains what RSS is and how it works at length.
In essence, RSS lets you mix and match news from a bunch of different sources and get your choice of the latest information piped to your desktop automatically. A piece of free software called an 'aggregator' scuttles out onto the web and grabs the headline information for you. It's very popular with magazines, news-junkies, bloggers, and forward-looking literary publishers too.
More helpful info about getting started with RSS can be found over here (general article) and here are some of the applications you'll need. That means you're now able to see the news, excerpts and author events we're posting here at telegrambooks.com without having to fire up a web browser. Try it, you might like it.
