Telegram Books: Submission Guidelines

Dear Author,

Thanks for thinking of Telegram as a publisher for your work. Because we receive a high volume of material for consideration we are obliged to be strict about the form in which we take proposals, so here goes:

In the first instance, please send a two-page synopsis along with the first few chapters (or about twenty pages) to the address at the bottom of this web-page, clearly marked for the Editorial Department.

Please do not send complete manuscripts unless requested to do so.

We cannot accept submissions by fax, email or on disc.

Please always keep a copy for yourself, as we cannot return manuscripts, and similarly, please do not include the originals of photographs or artwork under any circumstances. Copies are fine.

We look at everything. Consequently, a reply will take eight to ten weeks. If you have a query or have not received a reply after this time, please write to the Editorial Department giving details of your submission, including (most importantly) the title of the work and the date of dispatch. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

All material submitted to Telegram is of course treated as strictly confidential.

Lastly, keep in mind that Telegram publishes fiction and literary memoirs. Before you submit your proposal, take time to browse this site to get an idea of our tastes. We like to think that we put out high quality international fiction of some sophistication; and we look for work which matches our standards and offers broad general appeal.

We look forward to receiving your manuscript.
